Whiteley Lane
Street guide, Whiteley
One of the few roads in the area that predates the modern Whiteley development, Whiteley Lane runs southward from the town towards Swanwick and Locks Heath. The lane follows the route of a much older agricultural track and gives the modern settlement its name, having been associated with Whiteley Farm which stood on the site before development began. The northern end of the lane is now integrated into the estate road network, but the southern section retains a narrower, more rural character as it passes through the older settlement pattern towards Swanwick. Whiteley Lane provides an alternative route to the M27 via the local road network and is used by residents wanting to reach Swanwick station.
