Whiteley Town Council established
2014
Whiteley Town Council was formally established, giving the community its own tier of local government for the first time. The town council represents the interests of Whiteley residents on local matters including planning, community facilities, open spaces and events. Before the creation of the town council, Whiteley's governance was handled entirely by Fareham Borough Council and Winchester City Council, the two unitary authorities whose boundary runs through the development. The town council gave residents a direct voice in local decision-making and a body that could advocate specifically for Whiteley's needs.
