Whiteley Primary School opens

Whiteley Primary School opened to serve the growing community, providing the first purpose-built educational facility within the development. The school was designed to accommodate the children of the families moving into the new housing, and its opening was a milestone in Whiteley's development as a genuine community rather than simply a housing estate. The school quickly became a focal point for family life, with parent-teacher associations, after-school clubs and community events bringing residents together.
